Thoughts from Japan March 17th, 2011

Thoughts from Japan

http://www.dominicyeoman.com/diary/thoughts-from-japan/

It has been six days since the earthquake here are some further thoughts. The first is perhaps the hardest though. The situation remains unstable and even seems to worsen. Just tonight i hear there were two more quakes in Tokyo and people are having to think about packing evacuation bags, while in Chiba another friend says no water no electricity - at least temporarily. So these ideas i share below are less than my real concern which is the continuing crisis and those affected by it.

Astrology

It has been noted elsewhere - Uranus entered Aries on the 12th March. Uranus is a revolutionary energy, an upsetter, a light bringer. But i realise then that the 11th – the day of the quake and tsunami was Uranus’s last day in Pisces - the sign of the fishes and resonant with the ocean in which they live. In this light the upheaval of water that created the tsunami seems like a final twist of the tail for Uranus to this vastness of water sign.
Aries is a fire sign and fire has become the other element in this disaster. In this case not so much flames (though the pictures of blazing houses being swept along by the tsunami were pretty striking), the fire here is the heat of radiation. The fire / heat / activity of nuclear energy within matter. This energy is threatening to be uncontained. It is a dramatic opening to Uranus entering Aries.

A New Dawn

It strikes me that Japan is place where each new day dawns on our global culture. As the Earth spins on her axis Japan is the first landfall of global significance in the northern hemisphere (apologies to NZ, Australia etc.). Even Japan’s flag shows a rising sun.
In the sunrise is the seed of the new day. What happens here streams around the planet appearing as the day’s news for the people yet to wake up in their own time zone. Personally I do not set much store in the expectations of 2012, but it does strike me that this event is bringing a sharper focus on the fragility of our civilization in the face of larger elemental forces which we thought we had tamed.

Warmth of the sun

A few days ago I turned my face to the morning sun as I waited for the bus. It struck me that this warmth I was enjoying, this glow so welcome to me, was in fact a nuclear reaction! The energy we are currently fearing is the same as that which gives life to earth.
In fact it is not quite the same. Certainly the radiation from the sun is equally dangerous if we are exposed to it unprotected. (I like to use Seaweed Mineral Bath after a long flight to help counter the higher levels of solar radiation I have been exposed to in the airplane) However there is a distinct difference between the way that the sun and nuclear power stations  create energy.
The sun’s release of energy arises from nuclear fusion – that is fusing together small atoms – generally hydrogen to create larger more complex atoms. It is a building up process. Our nuclear power stations, on the other hand, derive energy from fission as heavier unstable elements such as uranium release energy as they break down into lighter more stable elements such as lead.

Fusion and Fission on the Tree of Life

The sun emits energy as a by product of building things up - creating. Nuclear power emits energy as a by product of  breaking things down - destruction. In terms of the Tree of Life the sun’s process – nuclear fusion - would be on the male – plus – side of the Tree while the process of our nuclear power generation – fission – would be on the right female – negative – side.
Does it make a difference? Not at the level of effect – both radiations are equally harmful – but in a sense one is a life building force and the other a life destroying force.

Back to the most important

For all those affected or concerned may peacefulness, answers and help come soon. For this i add my voice.
